Apparently, saving the kingdom, or even the world, doesn’t pay well in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, since Link is permanently broke. The residents also tend to forget who you are when it’s time to sell you something. To rectify the situation, and make your life much easier, we offer you a list of the most effective ways to obtain Rubies, as for cooking recipes, but be careful not to waste all your precious resources.
Boss: Rare Lithorok
This is probably the best Ruby farming plan we have discovered so far. There is a rare boss, relatively easy to access, that you can go and kill between each Blood Moon, in order to get several hundred rubies in gems each time, with a little luck. Check out the details in the guide below.
Mine and sell gems
You will come across ore veins throughout the game, but mainly in mountainous regions, caves and wells. We therefore advise you toexplore all the caves and wells that you meet. The Nox veins glow blue at night, it is very easy to spot from a distance, so do not hesitate to take a detour if you see one from afar. You can destroy the deposits by using a hammer-type weapon, that is to say by fusing a rock or a solid block with a weapon, via Amalgam. We advise you to use your weaker weapons for this. Shooting an arrow with an Explosive Fruit allows you to destroy the veins at height, but it is to be used sparingly.
Then, all you have to do is sell your gems when you come across a merchant. They have other uses at high level, but there will always be time to farm new ones, you need Rubies in the short term.
Here is the value of the different gems:
- Raw Amber: 10 Rubies
- Nox Gem: 20 Rubies
- Raw Opal: 30 Rubies
- Raw Topaz: 80 Ruby
- Raw Ruby: 110 Rubies
- Raw sapphire: 150 Rubies
- Rough Diamond: 500 Rubies
Sell materials and others
Honestly, we’re not fans of this approach, even though others recommend it. The reason being that you’re going to need these materials for Amalgam fusions, for quests, and most importantly, to upgrade your gear with the Great Fairies. Unless you know exactly what you’re doing, you’re likely to waste a lot of time in the long run, to earn a few measly Rubies. You can sell prepared meals safe though, if you have food in stock. Sell only life-healing dishes, those with side effects are too useful. A dish prepared with 5 basic mushrooms or 5 acorns turns out to be quite profitable.
Hunting the Rumy
You will regularly come across very fearful, luminous blue rabbits. Approach them slowly from behind while crouching, then fire arrows. as quickly as possible when you are in range. Each time you hit them, it will cause Rupees of different values to fall to the ground. It can be difficult to hit the Rumy after the first arrow, you can use theAmalgam with a Monster Eye any, to gain damage and automatically track your prey. With a little training and equipment, it is possible to hit it 3 times or more, in order to obtain more than a hundred Rubies each time.
Open the chests
Thanks Captain Obvious, this advice is pretty obvious. But to compensate, let’s specify that there are more chests than you might think in the game. There are often some in wells and ruins, behind a corner or an obstacle, but also in water points, or half buried. You can extract them using the Power of Control. They often contain useful items, and sometimes large sums of money. Wooden chests seem to contain them more regularly than others, so don’t underestimate them.
Doing odd jobs
A few side quests give nice amounts of money, like the cart quest and the woodland gazette quest, but they are scattered throughout the world, and can take time. That doesn’t make them viable short-term solutions. On the other hand, helping out the somewhat simple-minded employee who is trying to hold up signs is very quick, easy, and quite profitable, since he will give you 20 Rupees and a nice meal each time. So take the time to immobilize the sign with a few glued objects before talking to him. We’ve come across him many times, and by simple accumulation principle, it makes a difference. There is a similar NPC that you will sometimes come across at the bottom of wells. By talking to her about the wells you have visited, she will give you Rupees. Since you are already supposed to visit wells to extract gems and chests, this is a nice bonus.
