Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is finally available since this Friday, May 12, 2023 on Nintendo Switch is one of the most important features, if not THE most important, could well ask you. Here is everything you need to know about saving.
How many games are allowed on a game?
Unlike the frustrating Animal Crossing New Horizons where it was only possible to have one save on the console, Zelda TotK still offers one backup per account. That is to say, each of the users present on your Nintendo Switch can create their own game without touching yours. So keep this information in mind when you play: if you click on “new game”, this will delete the current game on your user account.
Performing manual backups
In TotK, it is possible to manually save your game and this is something we highly recommend. It should even become a reflex every time you are about to fight a horde of tough enemies, jump from a tower that is a bit too high or when you have just achieved something important. This is wise because Every time you die, you restart at the same location as your last save.
Note that Zelda TotK uses basic autosave: it’s okay if you forget to save, but autosaves don’t happen every minute. Usually, an autosave happens every five minutes, when leaving Sanctuary, when a Korogu is found or after a cutscene for example.
Some additional information:
- Automatic backup does not turn off in the options,
- When you click “load” you will only see one manual save (the most recent one) and all recent automatic saves.
