Already 36% off the Apple Vision Pro: the market is panicking

Apple Vision Pro are already available with up to over 36% off, on resale sites between individuals. The price of the device, originally set at $3,499 for the basic version, drops to $2,400 on the Swappa platform. A version better equipped with 1 TB of internal storage, the headset travel bag and AppleCare+ insurance worth $500 was also sold for $3,200 on eBay, after all, no less than twenty-five an auction. The price of this bundle normally exceeds $5,000, while the French price is not yet known, but could be worth 4,249 euros for the most affordable configuration.

We also identified an Apple Vision Pro for less than 3,000 euros, on Leboncoin:

For comparison, note that following particularly extended delivery times due to the success of its pre-orders, the Vision Pro was trading at prices reaching up to $8,000 just a few weeks ago. Those who then succumb to temptation must probably bite their fingers…

After the success, the lull

These figures are of course not without echoing recent estimates, according to which Apple has revised its sales forecasts for the Vision Pro. The journalist of Bloomberg Mark Gurman also estimates that the number of test sessions in the manufacturer’s official stores has dropped drastically, compared to its level in February. It was this month that the mount became available in the United States, but we have not yet been able to discover it in the French Apple Stores. However, it is rumored that the event organized in London on May 7 will perhaps be an opportunity to see the mixed reality headset get a release date for Europe, at the same time as the iPads could be announced. Pro with M4 chip as well as the 12.9-inch iPad Air.

At Apple, internally, this turnaround in the situation would have pushed the company to no longer rely on approximately four hundred thousand units sold in 2024. The high price of the Vision Pro may have something to do with it, but Tim Cook’s company intends to remedy this later with a more affordable headset. This could be released during 2027, with a revised technical sheet, but improved comfort to better target the general public. Where the current model is clearly intended for professionals, above all.

A Vision Pro update is on the way

If today the Apple Vision Pro runs under visionOS, this is only its first major version that equips it. This was unveiled at the Worldwide Developer Conference last year. But the next edition of the event is already underway. The appointment is therefore given on June 10 at 7 p.m. (Paris time), for the opening keynote. During the presentation, we should discover the second version of the operating system.

Several new features are expected around the corner, such as the compatibility of the virtual reality headset with a possible third-generation Apple Pencil (which could see the light of day on May 7). We also assume that, during the show, the app Notes will be updated to integrate mathematical formulas via Calculator. Other native platforms could benefit from additional features, like Mail, Keynote or Freeform. The canvas would notably offer users the possibility of pinning elements, to find them more easily precisely when the drawing surface is very large.
