Are you waiting for the new Vision Pro? We have bad news

This year, Apple launched its first mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro. And if some rushed to the company’s stores at the launch in the United States, others prefer to wait for the next version, either to benefit from an improved version, or in the hope that this next version costs less.

Unfortunately, according to a new rumor, Apple is in no hurry to release the Vision Pro 2. In his latest newsletter, Mark Gurman, journalist at Bloomberg, indicates that Apple’s roadmap does not foresee the launch of a second generation before the end of 2026. On the other hand, those waiting for a more affordable version might be luckier. Indeed, Gurman insists thatApple could launch a more affordable Vision Pro between two generations. However, Apple does not know exactly how to go about lowering manufacturing costs.

Otherwise, Gurman’s newsletter also indicates that Apple is currently focused on the international launch of its mixed reality headset. And the launch in China would also be imminent. But as usual, this information should be considered with caution, since it does not come from an official source.

Increasingly interesting competition

In any case, after the launch of Vision Pro, the general public is increasingly interested in mixed reality products. And this could benefit Apple’s competitors, who offer cheaper products than the Vision Pro. Among the Cupertino company’s main competitors is the Meta group.

Present in this sector for years, Meta recently announced the opening of its operating system to other brands and third-party application stores. It seems that Mark Zuckerberg’s company wishes to offer, through this more open platform than that of Apple, a Android equivalent for mixed reality.

However, it is important to remember that for its part, Google, Samsung and Qualcomm are also working on a mixed reality project. Moreover, Google should say more about this project during the Google I/O conference this May.
