AppleInsider has obtained exclusive information regarding new features based on artificial intelligence in Safari. They should be integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15. A redesign of the user interface is also expected.
The information comes from Apple engineers, who are currently testing the new version of Safari, before it is presented at WWDC 2024. Even if the source is official, it is not 100% guaranteed. that the features described here are ready on time.
Smart search

The future functionality of Smart search uses Apple’s AI technology, built directly into the device. The objective of this tool is to provide a complete summary of web pages. It’s unclear if Smart Search will be integrated into iOS 18, as it wasn’t enabled by default during engineers’ testing.

The second feature concerns something that can already be found in some ad blockers. This involves being able to delete elements on a web page. The testers specify that the deleted elements will remain deleted for each visit to the web page, and that it will not be necessary to start again each time.

Apple already offers a Visual Search feature on the iPhone, but the one that would be integrated into Safari would be much more powerful. In particular, it would allow find product information consumption when we browse images. This is’a functionality similar to what Google Lens offers. According to data reported by AppleInsider, improved visual search for Safari may not be available until 2025.
The future version of Safari will also offer a new quick access menu, near the address bar. It will offer key tools in one simple location.
