HBM prices will rise by 10% in 2025 and AI GPUs will be more expensive

The HBM memory pays the increased demand with price rise of up to 10% in 2025on the way to surpassing GDDR.

It is possible that in 5 years we will only see HBM as memory in graphics cards, the famous GDDR disappearing. Cost/performance has kept GDDR afloat, but AI advances and increasing hardware needs may bury GDDR. For now, the predictions are there and HBM is becoming very relevant.

Higher HBM prices and more relevant memory

path of represent 30% of the total value of the DRAM, the HBM memories will be more expensive by 2025. This message is for all companies that are interested in purchasing AI GPUs for LLM training because TrendForce has focused on NVIDIA and AMD options.

Avril Wu, the vice president of TrendForce, announces that the HBM market is underway and that the demand for GPUs for AI has only just begun. A HBM memory has a price 5 times higher than DDR5 memoryso that you can get a rough idea.

So, both market share and the price of each HBM unit will increase; To be exact, there is talk of HBM accounting for 20% of the DRAM market in 2024, but in 2025 it will exceed 30%. These are really important figures, both in prices and in market share.

Samsung, Micron and SK hynix must rub their hands because they are the main manufacturers of this type of memory. And when we talk about HBM, we obviously mean all its versions: HBM2e, HBM3, HBM3e and the future HBM4.

We all know that NVIDIA or AMD GPU brands are known for saving costs, and if you design the same PCB with the same configuration… it is cheaper to produce. The more variants or design alterations, the more product cost or lower supply you can guarantee.

Therefore, it is not unreasonable to think that in the future we will see HBM in GeForce or AMD Radeon graphics cards for gaming.
