Advertising is everywhere, but ultimately, for many companies and services, it is their only financial support. However, some people take this to the extreme and end up with ads that are intrusive and very annoying. This is the case when DissensionAfter years of resistance, they finally added ads to make Nitro pay for itself, but remove ads?
Discord has a Nitro feature. It is a paid service that adds some additional features. This allows you to use custom emojis on any server, upload files up to 500MB, add special badges to your profile, have custom video backgrounds, and stream at up to 4K @ 60FPS resolution within the platform. You can do it too.
Chat without ads
Finally, after nearly 10 years of resistance, Dissension started to do it show an ad. This ad is named Mission, which appears in the bottom left corner. The ads you see are based on your gaming data, age, and location.
What you may have already noticed is that this is not your typical ad that you see on YouTube or other digital media. These are various interactive promotions that motivate players to get more engagement and in return, users receive small rewards. You can earn rewards by completing the tasks suggested in the game while at least one friend watches the broadcast you are making.
These ads may be a bit annoying, but there is a way to remove them without paying a fee. Nitro Subscription. Anyone can perform this measurement and it is very simple.
- You will need to access “User Settings,” which is the gear that appears in the bottom area next to your name.
- Within the “User Settings” section, you will need to access the “Privacy and Security” option.
- Now you need to go to the “How we use your data” option.
- You will see the “In-Game Rewards (aka Missions)” option enabled, to disable it simply click on it.
Once you remove the selection, you will no longer see ads on Discord. As you can see, the process is very simple and you don’t have to pay a subscription fee like other services.
Although you have disabled the promotion, you can still access the missions through “Gift Inventory” in “User Settings”. You’ll also be able to see quests shared by your friends, as well as quests that appear in your Discord activity status.
Block annoying individual promotions
Maybe you think advertising is good because it helps maintain your service. However, some promotions may be annoying or uninteresting, so you may want to hide certain quests, such as:
- You need to click on the three points that appear on the promotion that appear in the top right corner.
- Access the menu and then click “Hide” to hide certain promotions.
- This will remove notifications for specific missions without disabling general advertising.
Even if you disable these ads, you will still be able to view and complete missions within your gift inventory.
