Game news In Fallout, Vault 69 is exactly what you think it is and it’s very special…

Who said Vault-tec technicians were people with reason and common sense in Fallout? Because if you study the history of certain shelters a little more in depth, there is reason to shiver and ask questions about the lack of ethics they demonstrated during this survival plan. Among these shelters, we have shelter 69, which does not hide its sexual connotations, but not only…

Shelters in Fallout

Shelters in Fallout 4 serve as a refuge for survivors of nuclear war. In order to guarantee the survival of part of the population, 180 shelters were built by Vault-Tech. The highest bidders could afford to go to the best of them, while the poorest were destined to go to less welcoming shelters: the experimental shelters.

These shelters are distinguished from other shelters by their purpose and the experiments carried out on survivors. Indeed, they were not built so that the inhabitants could survive. They are in reality underground laboratories where many social, psychological and technological tests were carried out.. In the greatest secrecy, scientists were carrying out unethical and appallingly cruel experiments on isolated populations.

The most controversial shelters in Fallout

While this idea of an experimental shelter is already a fundamentally awful idea, there are some that are less awful than others. Which is quite funny, because they are all intolerable, to the extent that the main aim was to explore the limits of human endurance, manipulate minds and analyze the impact of prolonged isolation. Vault-Tech hides a lot of cruelty, and here are some examples.

In Fallout, Vault 69 is exactly what you think it is and it's very special...
  • Vault 111 (Fallout 4): Survivors are cryogenically frozen for 200 years to study the effects of time on the human body.
  • Vault 92 : Survivors were genetically engineered to become superior soldiers.
  • Vault 81 (Fallout 4): Survivors are controlled through excessive psychoactive drug use.
  • Vault 77 (Fallout 3 and Fallout 76): Survivors were subjected to genetic modification and mind control experiments.
  • Shelter 69 : The shelter was made up of a single man and 999 women to explore gender dynamics and human relationships in an extremely unequal environment.
  • Vault 68 : This is the opposite of shelter 69, it then contained only one woman for 999 men and the goal of the research was the same.
  • Vault 22 : The supervisors have lost control of the survivors. Some residents aroused cannibalistic desires, which led to bloodshed.
  • Vault 11 : Survivors practiced annual sacrificial rituals to ensure the safety of the population.

There are other shelters, the number of which we do not know, which housed other experiences as horrible as those previously mentioned. In particular the one which observed the reactions of an isolated human alone with a puppet to analyze the long-term reaction of the survivor or the one which was not impervious to radiation.

Fallout is a license that generally makes you smile, notably thanks to Vault Boy, the friendly little strong mascot who is all smiles. The tone is humorous, even frivolous, except that the latter has a very dark side which puts the finger on the darkest corners of the human psyche and its excesses.
