Influence Manor Lords: Tithes, bandits… How to collect it and how to use it?

News tip Influence Manor Lords: Tithes, bandits… How to collect it and how to use it?

In Manor Lords influence plays a crucial role in the development of your kingdom. Here we come back to this special resource, the different ways to recover it and use it.

Summary of all our guides on Manor Lords

Beyond the resources harvested on your territory by your settlers, Manor Lords includes more specific resources, linked to politics and the role of the lord. Among these, we find influence, a somewhat obscure resource at the start of the game, but which is in fact at the heart of the experience.

Influence is ultimately about your political abilities. It first allows you to claim regions of the map or declare war on neighboring cities. Claiming a neutral territory costs 1000 influence points, while an occupied territory will cost you 2000 influence points.

Influence can also come into play in diplomatic choices. In short, as soon as you want to expand your territory and interact with other kingdoms, you will need to spend influence. You will therefore have to obtain a large quantity of them throughout the game.

There are several ways to regain influence. The first option that presents itself to you is to build mansions or churches. Mansions each provide 250 influence when built, but you won’t be able to build more than one until you increase the level of your settlement. As for churches, transforming them into stone churches will earn you 250 points.

Once you have built your first mansion, you can go to the “taxes” menu of this building and set up a tithe which, in exchange for food brought to the church, will provide you with a regular gain of influence. That being said, unless you have a lot of food, tithing is not very effective.

Finally, the last way to regain influence is to eliminate the bandits present on your territory. Each brigand killed earns 20 influence points. Overcoming a troop of bandits will necessarily require you to invest in a solid army, but can potentially pay off big if you run out of influence.
