iPhone 16 Pro: 8 potential new features with artificial intelligence

The Worldwide Developer Conference promises to be historic. During the event, which will be held from June 10 to 14, we should thus be able to discover iOS 18 and its many new features for iPhones. Many of the options in question could also be available on iPadOS 18 and macOS 15, the version name of which remains to be confirmed.

In this summary, we invite you to take stock of most of the new features of iOS 18 that would use artificial intelligence. Among these, we can notably cite the case of a global improvement of the iWork office suite or a voice assistant that is more efficient than ever. Of course, let us remember, above all, that this information must be considered with caution today: Apple has not officially confirmed it.

1 – Siri could improve significantly

Let’s start with the novelty which, for us, is perhaps the most important of this upcoming WWDC. This is what could be the most important update to Siri since the voice assistant’s debut nearly fifteen years ago. This artificial intelligence created by Apple is one of the precursors intended for the general public, but still encounters difficulties in offering us relevant answers.

Perhaps thanks to a partnership with OpenAI, Apple has decided to seriously improve its AI. We do not know exactly what is behind this possible announcement, however rumors suggest that the conversations would become more natural. In particular, Siri could better remember what you said to her previously, to respond to you. Additionally, Assistant could send messages for you while finishing your sentences for you, when transcribing with the Messages app.

Please note that Apple also seems to be planning more efficient integration between Shortcuts and Siri, but its content remains to be discovered in detail.

2 – Generating images with Keynote

Another potential new feature of the iPhone 16 Pro: generative artificial intelligence in Keynote. Apple’s software, a competitor to Microsoft PowerPoint, allows you to quickly create professional presentations. But often, it is necessary to embellish them with images to make them more digestible. And that’s precisely what Cupertino’s AI integrated into the platform would allow.

Like Picsart or DALL-E, Keynote should therefore give pride of place to a AI generating images according to prompt suggested by userwith the update to iOS 18. Since Keynote is also available on Mac and iPad, we assume that Apple laptops and tablets could benefit from it as well.

3 – Create text automatically in a Pages document

Keynote would not be the only iPhone 16 Pro app to benefit from generative AI. Indeed, the automatic creation of images could also land within Pages, Apple’s word processing app. As a bonus, it would also be possible to deploy text in a document, for example to complete the description of a product or write a press release.

We can bet that to achieve this result, Tim Cook’s company will have to perfect its algorithms to avoid blunders such as that of the iOS keyboard during the conflict in Palestine. To remedy this, Apple could also use a competing technology: that of Google. Alphabet indeed offers its own generative AI; Gemini – formerly known as Bard.

Below, find the AI features that Google Docs already offers today:

4 – Safari’s navigation assistant

iOS 18 could also mean updating Safari. Indeed, rumors published recently suggest that a navigation assistant will be integrated into Apple’s proprietary browser. We don’t know more at the moment, but Brave, Arc Search and Opera already offer alternatives compatible with iPhones or Macs.

Among the other new features planned for Safari with iOS 18, an encrypted visual search would also be included. We then imagine that, as the competition also proposes, it will be possible to select an image to learn more about its content, thanks to AI. Google Lens has offered a similar solution for several years now, and Samsung has just released Galaxy AI, in the same vein, for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra.

5 – A new AI for the App Store

With iOS 18, on iPhone 16 Pro, the App Store could also be updated. Hypotheses thus rely on the arrival of a new section of the store, intended to identify third-party platforms using artificial intelligence.

As a reminder, Apple had previously done the same with the applications dedicated to its mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro. The obvious interest here is to make research easier for us, or even to offer a new targeting criterion to advertisers when promoting their applications via the App Store advertising network.

6 – Calculations directly on your device

The features of iOS 18 powered by artificial intelligence would be powered by calculations carried out locally. This should guarantee more confidentiality to users, because Apple would not take advantage of this to transmit our personal data to third-party servers. Be careful, however, because this does not mean that the information will not be analyzed and anonymized for commercial purposes.

The code of Apple’s applications is already known to track us, which allows us to collect interesting statistics about our behavior. This then offers the possibility of suggesting intelligent choices to the user, on the one hand, and on the other hand of providing precise targeting criteria to developers to promote their services to the best profiles.

7 – Apple Music’s artificial intelligence

With iOS 18 and the iPhone 16 Pro, Apple Music should make it possible to generate playlists automatically, according to your tastes. The AI algorithm that will allow this is not known either, at the moment.

Apple Music is Cupertino’s paid streaming service, a direct competitor to Spotify or Deezer and Pandora. To subscribe, you have to pay 10.99 euros per month for a single user. We don’t know if access to artificial intelligence will require paying more, but it’s unlikely. Indeed, it is assumed that the computing power necessary for Apple’s new AI products will be provided by a new thirty-two-core Neural Engine, integrated into the A18 Pro chip. However, this would only be integrated under the hood of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, already more expensive than the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

8 – Find the right formula with Numbers

Finally, know that Numbers should, on iOS 18, be able to suggest formulas according to the context. Here too either thanks to OpenAI or thanks to Google. To better understand what this possible functionality consists of, we recommend that you test an alternative already available on the web, free of charge: Sheet Formula.
