Spring is just around the corner, signaling the start of developer season. They are preparing to follow the events of the tech giants to find out what will happen to artificial intelligence and operating systems this year. Among the most anticipated conferences are Nvidia GTC, Microsoft Build and Apple WWDC, and Google I/O next week. As it does every year, the Mountain View company plans to organize a conference and has just issued invitations.
When will Google I/O 2024 take place?

What will Google announce?
The company has not yet detailed the program, and although the show is aimed at developers, Sundar Pichai’s opening conference will likely capture the attention of the wider world. In fact, the I/O conference is Google’s favorite time to discuss and announce its roadmap. The 2024 version is no exception and the company is expected to introduce Android 15, the world’s most popular mobile operating system. This version is already in “Developer Preview” (DP), but I/O allows us to discuss the beta release and major new features coming soon. Wear OS may come into its own as it returns to the forefront.
Android and various AI
Clearly, we should expect many new developments centered around artificial intelligence. This topic has been a priority for the Mountain View group for several months and has already been a major theme in previous editions. Google has mentioned the emergence of Google Bard and generative AI in several services to keep up with the announcement of OpenAI.
Things have changed in 12 months and Google appears to be better armed in the AI space. The California group should focus on announcing Gemini, a promising artificial intelligence. I’m looking forward to announcements about Google Assistant and services that may disappear for Gemini (Gmail, Photos, etc.).

Google I/O’s focus on software solutions doesn’t shy away from product announcements. The Pixel A family usually comes into its own by reaching this promise and the company could announce the Google Pixel 8a.
It’s not impossible that Google is also talking about future products like the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro or the upcoming Pixel Watch 3. Without the French market, Google’s foldable smartphone could also make a comeback as the Pixel Fold 2.
