This is very good news. In the first quarter of 2023, it recorded a 28.7% decrease compared to the same period last year. At the time, it was the largest decline in PC history. PC sales of 59.8 million units in the first quarter are virtually identical to the sales figure of approximately 60.5 million units in the first quarter of 2019.
“Despite the challenges in China, the recovery is expected to continue into 2024 as new AI-enabled PCs launch later this year and business buyers begin upgrading PCs purchased during the pandemic.”said Jitesh UbraniHe is research manager for IDC’s Worldwide Mobile Device Trackers. “With increased shipments, AI PC prices are expected to increase, providing more opportunities for PC and component manufacturers,” he said.
The manufacturer that sold the most computers in the first half of 2024 was Lenovo.is back in first place at this stage of the year, with 13.7 million computers sold. HP ranked second with 12 million units, and Dell ranked third with 9.3 million units.
