TikTok has conquered the world thanks to its short videos, but the social network is increasingly moving towards longer formats. And to incentivize creators, the platform has developed a program that allows it to pay eligible accounts for long-form videos.
In 2023, TikTok launched a program in beta called the Creativity Program, which allows associated creators to earn higher earnings on the platform thanks to longer videos. In a blog post, the social network announced that the program would be leaving beta and being renamed the “Creator Rewards Program.”
“The Creator Rewards program will continue to reward high-quality, one-minute original content through an optimized rewards formula focused on four key areas: originality, play time, search value, and audience engagement.”You can also read it in the notice.
Creators Making $50,000 a Month
TikTok doesn’t indicate how many creators benefit from the program, which pays for long-form content. However, according to this, revenue generated from the beta version increased by 250%, and the number of creators earning more than $50,000 almost doubled.
The platform also indicates that users increasingly value long-form content. In fact, the format’s audience has grown by 40% in the past six months. “Long-form video opens up a world of possibilities for our community, giving creators additional flexibility to express themselves and enjoy limitless creative freedom.”Explaining TikTok.
The only downside is that currently the program you pay for for this lengthy content is only available in the US as part of a beta. Other eligibility criteria include being 18 years or older, having at least 10,000 followers, and having at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days.
Otherwise, it’s important to remember that while TikTok is moving towards longer videos, its competitor YouTube has prioritized short content. YouTube offers a format similar to TikTok videos called Shorts. To date, there are over 2 billion Shorts users.
