Tips to take up less photos and save disk space

With each passing year, disk drives that are either part of a computer or connected via USB are becoming more and more large. The problem is that the files we use are also larger, for example in the case of photos or videos.

So we don’t have nearly enough and in many cases we have to use external devices like: USB stick or hard drive. It is a great complement to the internal disk drives that are part of your computer. But before you get to this point, you may want to try a few tricks to use less disk space.

Many of you probably already know that multimedia content such as photos and videos are the most used files. They take up space and waste In this unit. In these lines we want to focus on photo files, which we sometimes store in hundreds or thousands in these units we are talking about.

And keep in mind that once you get used to doing some of the tricks I’ll mention below, sometimes you can: Save a significant amount of gigabytes. This is especially evident when working with huge amounts of photo files. You should also consider that the cameras on our phones that we commonly use to take screenshots are getting better and better.

This means that transferring them to your PC will take up a lot more space on your device since they have a higher resolution. Below we will show you some useful tips. Reduce the size of this capture And save space.

Make your photos take up less space on your computer.

You already know that the storage space on your PC hard drive is not infinite, which sometimes forces you to uninstall applications. It is also very common that you need to delete a particular file or save it to the following folder: external drive. This is also another reason why cloud storage services are becoming more and more popular.

Use the most appropriate format.. You can find various formats of image files stored on your hard drive. However, it is important to know that not all people are the same. For example, you should definitely avoid Photoshop RAW or PSD, which usually take up too much space. So, for example, converting these images to JPEG format can save you a huge amount of megabytes on your hard drive.

Lower your resolution. Sometimes we take pictures on our mobiles with a resolution of several megabytes, 15 or 20 by default. This makes the resulting files huge and in most cases unnecessary. Photos of this size are useful for professional editing, but are not suitable for keeping as keepsakes. So if you reduce the resolution, it will take up much less space.

Deduplication. Surely many of you have come across photo files that have been repeated once or several times. So, deleting these duplicate photos saves a significant amount of disk space.

Mobile camera configuration. Over the years, we are getting more and more mobile phones that offer higher resolution cameras with more megapixels. However, setting capture to maximum is not always necessary. So you can basically configure your terminal to use a lower resolution, saving it both on your phone itself and when transferring to your computer.
