Update: Civilization VI has just been updated. The new version of the game addresses the bug described in the article. This should therefore no longer pose a problem.
Since the release of iOS 17.4, the developers of video game studio Aspyr Media have been living a real nightmare. Without them understanding why or how, their star mobile game, Civilization VI, is unavailable to millions of people around the world.
The problem seems to affect players on both iPhone and iPad. In recent days, there have been more and more negative reviews on the App Store, causing the average rating to drop from Civilization VIa product that is generally appreciated by players.
A completely blocked game
For now, the studio behind the mobile game Aspyr Media has acknowledged the existence of the problem and ensures that it is doing everything possible to bring the game back quickly. As for the players, some testify on Reddit. They explain that uninstalling/reinstalling the game had no effect.
The game always launches with an error message, making access to the user account impossible. Although these problems are quite common on the App Store, they have never before concerned a mobile game as popular and complete as Civilization VI. The bug appears to affect the game’s deep code, making implementing a fix very complex.
How to play Civilization VI?
For people who would still like to try the game, it is possible, but on one condition. Your iPhone must not have been updated in recent weeks. If your device (iPhone or iPad) is not running one of the latest versions of the operating system, then there is a good chance that you will be able to launch the mobile game and access it.
Unfortunately this scenario only concerns a few people in the world, and the vast majority of players have already updated their iPhone. Making Civilization VI impossible to launch.
