Apple just launched two new Macs with zero fanfare — and the cheap one is the interesting one

Mac mini M6 starts at $899, built on Apple's first 2-nanometer chip, with up to 32GB of unified memory.

Mac Studio M5 Ultra starts at $5,499, with up to 512GB of unified memory and 1.2TB/s of bandwidth.

Both machines were announced with no event — a real departure from Apple's usual launch playbook.

Preorders are open now; both ship September 22, 2026.
