PC Gamer's 2026 guide: RTX 5050 ($249 MSRP) is the budget pick, RX 9070 ($549 MSRP) is the overall best pick.

The RTX 5050 has 8GB of GDDR6 on a 128-bit bus. The RX 9070 has 16GB of GDDR6.

Street prices have scrambled the hierarchy: an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB now sells for a median $805, per Wccftech — more than the objectively better RX 9070.

8GB cards are already stumbling in 2026 titles at 1440p with textures maxed; 16GB is the real dividing line, not raw shader count.

If you're going to dabble in local AI at all, VRAM capacity buys you more than clock speed does.
