April 2026 increases: +$100 on the 16GB Pi 5, +$50 on 8GB, +$25 on 4GB, +$150 on the Pi 500+ kit.

Cause, in Raspberry Pi's own words: LPDDR4 memory costs rose roughly seven-fold in a year.

Boards using older memory — Pi Zero, Pi 1/3, the Pi 400 at $60 — were not affected.

Raspberry Pi has committed to reversing the rises when memory normalises. Analysts don't expect that before late 2027.

At the top of the range, I don't think it does any more. The entire reason to accept the Pi's modest CPU and its ARM software quirks was that it was extremely cheap. A heavily-inflated 16GB Pi 5 now…
