The RTX 5090 crossed 7.3 million won (~$5,112) in South Korea this month, roughly 2.5x its $1,999 US MSRP, per Tom's Hardware and TechPowerUp.

The cause is a bundled kit: Nvidia packages the GPU die with GDDR7 memory for its board partners, and those modules now cost around $20 each, up sharply since spring.

RTX 50-series prices rose up to 30% across the board in South Korea alone this month — the third documented hike of 2026.

US street prices haven't hit Korea's level yet, but every regional spike this year has eventually shown up stateside within weeks.

For local AI specifically, 32GB stops looking like an obvious win once you price it per gigabyte against a used RTX 3090 or a 16GB card with smarter quantization.
