On Steam, Helldivers II is being lynched by players after Sony’s latest announcement.

Helldiverse II has been widely acclaimed since its release on February 8. Apart from a few complaints from the community after the release of certain patches and rebalancing, the game was praised by most players, in particular thanks to the exemplary follow-up from Arrowhead Game Studios. At least, until this week. On Steam, Helldivers II was the victim of review-bombing after Sony announced the obligation to link a Playstation Network account to the game in order to play it. News that has fueled the anger of many PC players: 62% of recent reviews are negative on the game page.

A massive blow for the community
When Helldivers II was released, the game’s stability issues prevented it from being linked to a PSN account. The players therefore quickly moved on to something else, but this step back enrages them, particularly in view of the arguments put forward by Sony which justifies this choice by ensuring that this is an additional strengthening of security. Except that some members of the community pointed out that the PSN was not infallible and that the data linked to Sony of millions of players have already been hacked in the past.
What’s more, regarding cheats, Helldivers II already includes an anti-cheat. Finally, other players recalled that the Playstation Network was not available in certain countries. The obligation to link your account to the PSN will therefore prevent many players from launching Helldivers II. Arrowhead also reacted to this last point by explaining that they did not yet know what these changes implied for the players concerned, but ensuring that they were looking for a solution. Sony for its part has not yet reacted to this controversy. Hoping that the giant manages to find a solution soon.
