Your iPad will become a giant Nintendo DS thanks to this app

Little by little, the Apple platform is becoming more flexible. In Europe, to comply with the Digital Markets Act, the Cupertino company authorizes alternative application stores. Some developers even have the possibility of offering their apps for direct download on the web, without going through an application store. And in the rest of the world, the Cupertino company recently modified the App Store rules to allow developers to offer emulators for the iPhone and iPad.

Among the developers taking advantage of this change is Testut Tech, which has already launched its Delta emulator for iOS. This new application supports NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS and the list is expected to grow. Furthermore, if Delta is currently only available on iPhone, its developer is already preparing an iPad version, which will allow games to be played on a larger screen.

As reported by the site 9to5Mac, the news was announced by the developer in a publication on the social network Threads. According to this announcement, the iPad version is almost finished, but the developer still needs to finalize the controller interface and fix some bugs.

A change of plan after Apple’s rule changes

The developer of Delta admits that it had not prioritized the development of the iPad version of its emulator since initially, the objective was to offer the application only on the alternative store AltStore, in the European Union . However, Apple only authorizes alternative stores in the European Union on the iPhone.

But Testut Tech plans when Apple changed the rules of the App Store worldwide, to allow emulators. As a reminder, it was at the beginning of April that the Cupertino company updated its rules to authorize this type of application on the App Store. “[…] retro game console emulator apps can offer to download games”we can read in this new version of Apple’s rules.

While waiting for the iPad version, you can already enjoy the Delta emulator on iPhone, by following our guide. On the other hand, if you want to use the AltStore to download iPhone apps in the European Union, we have created a guide for that too.
