System Shock and High On Life just became VR games on the same showcase

Nearly 30 VR games got announced in one hour on August 13, and the biggest story wasn't a new game at all — it's who's making the old ones playable in VR.

System Shock and High On Life — a 1994 cyberpunk classic and a foul-mouthed 2022 comedy shooter — both got announced as VR ports on the same stage this week. It happened at the VR Games Showcase on August 13, 2026, where publisher Flat2VR Studios revealed both System Shock VR and High On Life VR heading to PC VR, Meta Quest and PlayStation VR2. They were two of roughly 29 games revealed across the hour-long show, according to Road to VR's count.

The real story is who's making these

Flat2VR Studios grew out of a fan community that spent years building unofficial VR mods for flatscreen games before formalizing into an actual publisher shipping sanctioned ports. Both System Shock VR and High On Life VR are part of the slate it's calling Impact Inked, and landing two recognizable, well-reviewed licenses on the same showcase is the clearest signal yet that official flat-to-VR conversion has become a real publishing category, not a hobbyist sideline.

It's a busy stretch for console gaming generally, VR included. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition lands on Switch 2 this month, Serious Sam: Shatterverse is confirmed for PS5, and this month's PS Plus lineup is one of the strongest in a while. Meanwhile Xbox keeps losing ground in the console race — VR might be the one lane right now where platform rivalry matters less than which publisher actually bothers to show up.

When does System Shock VR come out?
No release date has been announced — Flat2VR Studios listed it as TBD when it was revealed at the August 13, 2026 VR Games Showcase.
Is High On Life VR the full game or a demo?
It's a full VR port of the game, coming to Meta Quest, PC VR and PlayStation VR2, according to the showcase reveal — no release date is set yet.
What is Flat2VR Studios?
A publisher specializing in official VR ports of existing flatscreen games, operating under a slate it calls Impact Inked.
Which VR games are coming out soonest after the showcase?
BrushHammer Miniature Painter (August 26), BattleGroupVR2 early access (August 28), and Knights of Fiona (September 3) are the nearest-term releases confirmed.

Neither System Shock VR nor High On Life VR has a release date yet, so the real test is still ahead. Watch for Flat2VR to follow up with dates as the ports progress — and expect PlayStation VR2 support, not just Meta Quest, to be the detail that decides how big each launch actually ends up being.
