Is Seedance free? Barely. Seedance is ByteDance's AI video model, and ByteDance doesn't run a free Seedance app of its own. The main free route is Dreamina, CapCut's AI studio, which gives US free accounts 120 credits a day. Seedance 2.5 costs 37 credits a second there at 720p, so a free day buys about 3 seconds of it: less than the shortest clip. Older, cheaper Seedance models stretch the same credits further. Where is the official Seedance?

ByteDance runs Seedance on Dreamina (dreamina.capcut.com), CapCut, Jimeng in China and the BytePlus ModelArk API; seed.bytedance.com describes the model but isn't a place to generate. It's the question Seedance users ask most, and AI chatbots answer it badly. One Reddit user wrote that they "asked claude and chatgpt. got higgsfield, capcut, topview, runway … none of them told me what i actually pay per usable video" (r/seedance). So here's the list, straight from ByteDance's own pages.

ByteDance's research team, ByteDance Seed, launched Seedance 2.5 on 31 July 2026. Its announcement says it "is rolling out on Jimeng AI, Doubao Pro, and other platforms, with API access coming soon via BytePlus ModelArk." Seed's own site at seed.bytedance.com describes the model and links out; it isn't a place to generate videos.

What Seedance 2.5 adds, per ByteDance Seed: clips "up to 30 seconds in a single generation, with the option to extend twice", sound generated with the video, up to "30 images, 10 video clips, and 10 audio clips as reference materials in a single pass", and editing by timestamp. ByteDance doesn't state a resolution; BytePlus prices it at 480p, 720p and 1080p.

Is Seedance free on Dreamina?

Yes, in small amounts: Dreamina is the closest thing to "free Seedance". Its free-credits page, dated 22 October 2026, says: "Free accounts in the US receive 120 credits per day; daily allowances vary in other regions."

Three things matter before you plan around those credits:

• Which Seedance the free credits reach. The same Dreamina page says the free tier covers "Seedance 2.0 for video". Dreamina's Seedance 2.5 page, though, says "Dreamina provides free daily credits to test out Seedance 2.5". The two pages disagree, so check the model picker in your own account. One Reddit user says the opposite again: on the Dreamina website, "Seedance is locked behind a paywall and is only available to paying users" (r/generativeAI).
• The watermark. Dreamina's paid plans list "Remove the Dreamina watermark in downloads", so free downloads carry it.
• Commercial use. Dreamina's Terms of Service (updated 22 January 2026) say users agree not to use the services or content "for any commercial or unauthorized purposes". They also say you own your inputs and outputs if you follow the terms. In practice: fine for testing, not for a client job on the free tier.

How many seconds of Seedance do 120 free credits buy?

Dreamina's Seedance price page lists the rates: "37 credits/second for Seedance 2.5, 17 for Pro, 8 for Fast and 5 for Mini at 720p."

Divide one free day by those rates and you get this:

That's the honest answer to "is Seedance 2.5 free": one free day doesn't cover even a 4-second Seedance 2.5 clip at 720p (148 credits at Dreamina's rate). Seedance Mini and Fast are where free credits go furthest, and they're the right place to test prompts before you pay for 2.5. Seedance 2.5 on Dreamina had another problem on 31 October: users reported generations "stuck at 99% for over 10 hours" (r/Seedance_AI).

Is Dreamina's $0.29 month worth it?

Dreamina's Seedance price page, dated 27 October 2026, says: "Eligible US Basic users pay $0.29 for the first month with 1,575 included credits; the listed renewal is $15/month." The offer started on 21 October.

Yes, if you cancel on time: it's a real offer, and the cheapest way to try Seedance 2.5 properly. Two things Reddit users ran into:

• It renews at $15. One user called the jump "definitely how they make their money back on people forgetting to cancel" (r/generativeAI). If you only want one month, cancel right after you subscribe; the credits stay for the month.
• Check that the credits landed. One buyer wrote "I bought it, and the credits never showed up" (r/Seedance_AI). Look at your credit balance straight after paying, and contact Dreamina support the same day if it's wrong.

How much does one Seedance 2.5 clip cost?

On ByteDance's own API platform, BytePlus ModelArk, a 5-second Seedance 2.5 clip costs $0.51 at 480p, $1.16 at 720p and $2.84 at 1080p. That makes BytePlus the cheapest official place to run Seedance by the clip. Its docs say "ModelArk offers new users a free inference trial quota", calculated separately for each model. The catch is geography: BytePlus's own announcement ends "(Note: BytePlus is not available in the United States)."

BytePlus publishes prices per video. It also says "You are only charged for successfully generated videos," so a clip its filter blocks costs nothing. Here's a 5-second, 16:9 clip from text, from BytePlus's pricing page:

BytePlus also lists the price per second: "$0.231 per second" at 720p and "$0.569 per second" at 1080p. A full 15-second clip is therefore about $3.47 at 720p and $8.53 at 1080p, by our arithmetic.

To set those beside Dreamina: on Dreamina Basic ($15 for 1,575 credits) a 5-second Seedance 2.5 clip at 720p is 185 credits, or about $1.76 by our arithmetic. That's before retries.

What does a usable Seedance clip really cost?

Several times the price of one clip, because a single clip is rarely the clip you keep. The author of a non-affiliated Reddit comparison of 20 Seedance providers wrote that "it takes anywhere between 5-15 attempts to get what you want" (r/aifilmmaking). That changes the maths more than any discount.

Filter blocks are the other hidden cost: a prompt the moderation refuses can still use up your time. BytePlus says "You are only charged for successfully generated videos." Higgsfield's help center says that when a prompt or upload triggers its NSFW filter or copyright check, "the generation fails" and "the credits are refunded." Dreamina is strict too: one Reddit user wrote in April 2026 that it doesn't let you do faces, Marvel-style violence or "anything close to sexy (PG-13)" (r/seedance).

How much is Seedance 2.5 on Higgsfield?

It depends on the plan: Higgsfield counts Seedance in "videos" per plan, from 15 Seedance 2.0 Fast videos on Starter to 200 Seedance 2.5 videos on Ultra. Higgsfield licenses Seedance next to Kling, Veo and its own tools. It lists no free plan on its pricing page, and new accounts can get free credits to try it. Its plan cards on 3 November 2026 counted Seedance like this:

• Starter ($19 a month, 270 credits): "15 videos Seedance 2.0 Fast", with access to Seedance 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini.
• Plus ($59 a month, or $47 billed yearly, 1,200 credits): "80 videos Seedance 2.5", plus "Unlimited Seedance 2.5" at 720p for the first 7 days.
• Ultra ($129 a month, or $99 yearly, 3,000 credits): "200 videos Seedance 2.5", plus unlimited Seedance 2.5 at 1080p for 7 days.

Higgsfield doesn't say how long or at what resolution those "videos" are, so treat them as a rough guide and read the cost on the Generate button. Its fine print adds that unlimited models work only on higgsfield.ai and that "Unlimited usage may be subject to dynamic speed adjustments during high-traffic periods." Credit rates move, too: one user reported in October that Seedance 2.5 had gone to 16 credits a second at 1080p, while Higgsfield's own blog still showed the older rate (r/generativeAI). Is seedance.tv the official Seedance site?

No. seedance.tv isn't a ByteDance site, and neither are most of the other top "Seedance free" results. We searched Bing for "seedance free", "seedance 2.0 free" and "seedance 2.5" on 3 November 2026. The first result for all three was seedance.tv. It isn't a ByteDance site. Neither are seedance20.cloud, tryseedance.ai, seedance25.tools, aiseedance25.ai, seadance.io, seedancehub.io, seeddance.io, seedance2ai.io, seedance25.tech or clipdance.ai, which filled most of the rest of the first page. We aren't saying what those sites do; we're saying they aren't ByteDance, so their "free Seedance" isn't ByteDance's offer.

The official domains are short:

• seed.bytedance.com: ByteDance Seed, the team that makes Seedance.
• dreamina.capcut.com and capcut.com: CapCut's apps.
• jimeng.jianying.com: Jimeng, for China.
• byteplus.com, ai.byteplus.com and docs.byteplus.com: the API.

Anything else is a reseller at best. Two warning signs from Reddit threads: "unlimited free Seedance 2.5" (Seedance isn't open source, so nobody can give it away), and prices far below BytePlus's own, which is the cheapest official source.

Can I use Seedance in India?

Possibly, through Dreamina's website, but region is half the battle. In India, CapCut itself isn't available, though one user there reported that Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 were still available and the website still loaded (r/CapCut). BytePlus's availability list has no United States and no mainland China entry. Dreamina's free allowance is 120 credits a day in the US and "varies in other regions". And paying in dollars from India, Pakistan or Africa usually means switching on international payments in your banking app first, then paying currency fees on top.
