Alibaba's Wan 3.0 has no open weights, so you can't run it free on your own PC. The official free routes are daily check-in credits on wan.video and a 30-second API quota, and most "free Wan 3.0" sites aren't Alibaba's.

Is Wan 3 free? Only in small doses. Wan 3.0 is Alibaba's video model, and unlike earlier Wan versions it has no open weights, so you can't download it and run it free on your own GPU. Alibaba's official free routes are small: daily check-in credits on a $0 plan at wan.video, and a one-off 30-second quota on its Model Studio API, in the Singapore region only. Regular use, 1080p and watermark-free downloads cost money. Checked 30 October 2026 on Alibaba's own pages.
Official free ways to use Wan 3.0
Alibaba runs two official doors into Wan 3.0: the Wan creative site for people, and the Model Studio API for developers. Both have a free allowance; neither is generous.
The Wan site's Free plan. On 30 October 2026 the home page at wan.video led with "Introducing Wan3.0". Alibaba's Wan GitHub links to that site, and its contact address is on alibaba.com. The membership page lists Free at US$0 a month with "Daily check-in to earn free credits", one video at a time and "Access to 6 image styles". It doesn't say how many credits a check-in gives, or what a Wan 3.0 clip costs in credits, so we can't tell you how many free clips that buys.
The Model Studio API quota. Alibaba Cloud's Model Studio pricing page lists a 30-second free quota for wan3.0-video. It says: "The following models offer a free quota only in Singapore. No free quota is available in other regions." The quota is "Valid for 90 days from the date of Model Studio activation, model release, or application approval, whichever is later", and it counts input and output video together. Wan 3.0 Prime has no free quota.
No free self-hosting. Earlier Wan models were open, which is why "free Wan" searches turn up local-install guides. On 30 October 2026 Alibaba's Wan-AI Hugging Face page and its Wan-Video GitHub had Wan 2.1 and 2.2 models but no Wan 3.0. A guide that offers a Wan 3.0 download is offering something else.
What the free plan can't do
The Wan membership page puts these on its paid Pro and Premium plans, not Free: "Download watermark-free images & videos", "Create High-Res Videos (1080p)" and "Create longer videos (10-30s)". So a free Wan clip is short, below 1080p and watermarked. That's fine for testing prompts, not for a client video.
A third-party free allowance
One model host also gives Wan 3 away in small amounts. fal's page (updated 25 August 2026) says "Signed-in accounts get five free Wan 3 generations every 24 hours on a rolling window", each at 720p, and that activating an account "takes a card on file". fal isn't Alibaba, and its page doesn't say how it licenses the model, so treat it as one platform's offer, not Alibaba's.
Paid routes compared
Three legitimate ways to pay: Alibaba's Wan membership, Alibaba's API, or a platform that runs Wan next to other models. Prices below are dated and sourced; all of them change often.

The page adds that the first month or year "is non-refundable after activation" and that a plan is for use on create.wan.video only, with "Separate purchases" for the API. On the API, Model Studio bills Wan 3.0 per second of video by resolution. In Singapore it listed wan3.0-video at $0.10 a second at 720p, shown with a limited-time 30% discount, and wan3.0-video-prime at $0.14 a second at 720p.
Wan 3.0 inside Higgsfield
Higgsfield is a separate platform that runs Wan 3.0 and Wan 3.0 Prime next to Kling, Seedance, Veo and its own tools under one credit plan. Its pricing page compare table (read 30 October 2026) listed:
Wan 3.0
480p

720p
8.75 credits
1080p
17.5 credits
Wan 3.0 Prime

17.5 credits
Wan 3.0 Prime

30 credits
On monthly Plus ($59 for 1,200 credits, about $0.049 a credit) a 720p Wan 3.0 clip works out to about $0.43. That's our arithmetic. For scale, Higgsfield's cost check on 29 October quoted Seedance 2.5 at 35 credits at 720p and 80 at 1080p, so Wan 3.0 is the cheaper model to draft with. A lower price doesn't mean the same result; our Seedance on Higgsfield guide has that comparison in full.
Two Higgsfield limits matter for a "free" search. First, no Higgsfield plan makes Wan 3.0 Unlimited: on 30 October no individual or business plan card listed Wan, so every clip spends credits. Second, Higgsfield's free account has no credits. Its plans help article says the free tier "doesn't include credits" and access "is limited to a small set of models", without naming them, so we can't confirm a free account can run Wan 3.0 at all. The paid Starter, Plus and Ultra cards do list "5 free gens" of Genjutsu Lite, a motion-transfer tool Higgsfield says runs on Wan 3.0.
Which is cheaper depends on how you work. If you only want Wan, Alibaba's own Pro plan is the direct, low-cost route. If you also want Kling, Seedance or Veo in one place, one Higgsfield plan can replace several subscriptions; it isn't automatically cheaper per clip. Higgsfield's own help center points to Wan for exact first and last frames, and our which Higgsfield model to use guide lays out the rest.
Official site vs look-alike sites
Search "wan 3 free" and Alibaba's own site doesn't make the first page. On 30 October 2026 Bing's top results were wan3.io, seeddance.io, wan-ai.app, wan-3.io, wan-3.ai, topview.ai, wan30.io, wan2.video, wan3video.net and wan3.run. None of them is wan.video or alibabacloud.com, so none is Alibaba's official site. We aren't saying what those sites do with your money or data; we're saying they aren't Alibaba.
How to spot the real one:
Check the domain. Alibaba's Wan site is wan.video, with the creation app at create.wan.video. Developers use Alibaba Cloud Model Studio. Alibaba's Wan GitHub links to wan.video.
Be wary of "free unlimited Wan 3.0" and "download Wan 3.0". Alibaba's own free plan runs on daily check-in credits, and there are no Wan 3.0 weights to download.
Pay only where the account lives. The Wan membership page says a plan covers create.wan.video only. Credits bought on another site are that site's credits, unless it's a platform that openly runs the model and shows the price, like Higgsfield.

Frequently asked
Is Wan 3 free?
Only in small doses. Alibaba's Wan site has a $0 plan with daily check-in credits, and Model Studio gives a 30-second wan3.0-video quota in Singapore only, valid for 90 days (both read 30 Oct 2026). 1080p, 10 to 30 second clips and watermark-free downloads need a paid plan.
Can I download Wan 3.0 and run it locally for free?
No. On 30 Oct 2026 Alibaba's Wan-AI Hugging Face page and Wan-Video GitHub had Wan 2.1 and 2.2 but no Wan 3.0 weights. Wan 3.0 runs only through Alibaba's site and API and platforms that host it.
Is Wan 3.0 free on Higgsfield?
No. Wan 3.0 costs 8.75 credits per 5 seconds at 720p and 17.5 at 1080p (Prime 15 and 30), and no Higgsfield plan makes it Unlimited. The free account has no credits and Higgsfield doesn't say which models it can run.
How much does Wan 3.0 cost?
On Alibaba's Wan site, Pro is $10 a month (or $5 billed yearly) for 300 credits and Premium $40 (or $20 yearly) for 1,200. On Higgsfield, a 5-second 720p clip is 8.75 credits, about $0.43 on monthly Plus. Check before you buy; prices change.
Is wan3.io the official Wan 3.0 site?
No. Alibaba's Wan site is wan.video, with creation at create.wan.video. Domains like wan3.io, wan-3.ai and wan30.io aren't wan.video, so they aren't Alibaba's official site.
The short version: Wan 3.0 is free to sample through Alibaba's daily check-in credits and its 30-second API quota, there's no free download, and on Higgsfield it's one of the cheaper video models but always spends credits.
