Is Kling AI free? Yes, on a watermarked free plan. Here's the catch

Kling's Basic plan costs nothing, but it has no monthly credits, adds a watermark and isn't for commercial use. Where the free credits come from, what paid plans cost, and which Kling sites aren't Kling.

Is Kling AI free? Partly. Kling's Basic plan costs $0 and Kling calls it "free forever", but it comes with no monthly credits, free exports carry a Kling watermark and Kling says Basic output is "not for commercial use". You can generate with free credits from sign-up and promotions; steady volume, 1080p and watermark-free clips need a paid plan. Checked 29 October 2026 on Kling's own pages.

Official free ways to use Kling AI

There's one official free route: a Basic account on kling.ai. Here's what Kling's own pages say it includes.

  • The Basic plan. Kling's credit guide, published on its blog on 28 July 2026, lists Basic as "$0; free forever" with "No monthly Credits" and "generated content is not for commercial use".
  • Sign-up and monthly login credits. Kling's membership FAQ says: "New users receive free credits when they sign up, and returning users can claim another free credit allowance by logging in each month." It adds that "The number and validity of free credits may change", so we don't quote a number.
  • Daily credits are not a free-plan promise. Kling's Credits Policy says: "During the event (as shown in the interface), Kling subscribers can claim daily credits upon login/refresh." In other words, daily login credits are tied to events and to subscribers. If you've read that Kling gives every free user a fixed daily allowance, check the credit counter in your own account before planning around it.
  • Promotional credits. The same policy lists credits "Acquired through platform promotional activities", valid for whatever period the event notice states.

What the free plan can't do

Kling's Credits Policy names the paid-only features: "Fast-track generation, 1080p videos, Watermark removal, Master shot & video extension, Image upscaling are premium-only functions." Its daily-credits FAQ says "free-tier exports generally include a watermark" and that "Watermark removal is a membership benefit."

So a free Kling clip is a watermarked, non-1080p clip that you can't use commercially. That's fine for trying prompts. It isn't fine for a client video or an ad.

Kling 3.0 and Kling 4.0: can you use them free?

Maybe, with free credits, but Kling doesn't promise it. On 29 October 2026 Kling's home page led with "All-New Kling 4.0" and still listed the Kling 3.0 model series. Kling's membership FAQ says model access and generation limits "vary by plan and by the options currently shown in your account." We found no Kling page that says which models the free Basic plan can run, so we can't confirm free access to either one. Open the model picker in your own account to see what's offered.

What Kling does publish, read on kling.ai on 29 October 2026:

  • Clip length. Kling's AI video FAQ says Kling 4.0 makes clips of 3 to 30 seconds per generation, and Kling 3.0 up to 15 seconds.
  • Kling 3.0 cost. Kling's credit guide gives native 4K in the Kling 3.0 series as 30 credits per second. Free credits run out fast at that rate.
  • Kling 4.0 cost. We couldn't find a published credit price for Kling 4.0 on kling.ai.
  • Free-plan rules still apply. Anything you make on Basic carries a watermark and isn't for commercial use.

Kling 4.0 also runs on Higgsfield, where the Generate button shows its credit cost before you spend anything. See what Kling 4.0 costs on Higgsfield for the numbers we read there.

Two legitimate ways to pay for Kling: Kling's own membership, or a platform that licenses Kling models alongside others. Prices below are dated and sourced; both vendors change them often.

Kling's own plans

From Kling's credit guide (dated 28 July 2026, read 29 October 2026). Kling shows a lower first-month price; the figure here is the next monthly renewal it lists.

Basic

Not for commercial use

Standard

Monthly renewal
$8.80 (first month $6.99)
Credits a month

Premier

Ultra

Monthly renewal

Credits a month
26,000
What Kling says it adds
Same, plus beta invites where applicable

Kling's Credits Policy also sells credits on their own at "$1 USD = 66 Credits", valid for two years. Subscription credits are valid for one month. The same guide gives 4K video in the Kling 3.0 series as "30 credits per second", so length and resolution drive the bill. Kling's home page now leads with Kling 4.0, its newest video model.

Kling inside Higgsfield

Higgsfield is a separate platform that runs Kling models next to models from other companies under one credit plan. Its video model list on 29 October 2026 included Kling 2.6, Kling 3.0, Kling 3.0 Turbo, Kling 3.0 Omni and Kling 4.0, alongside Google's Veo 3.1 and Seedance. On 27 October its Generate button priced a 5-second Kling 4.0 clip at 1080p at 10 credits, during a launch discount (20 listed). The full breakdown is in what Kling 4.0 costs on Higgsfield.

Which one is cheaper depends on how you work. If you only ever use Kling, Kling's own plan is the direct route and its Standard tier is the low-cost entry. If you also want Veo, Seedance or Higgsfield's own camera and character tools in the same place, one Higgsfield plan can replace several subscriptions. It's not automatically the cheaper option per clip. We compare the two in Higgsfield vs Kling, and Higgsfield credits explained shows how its credits work.

Official site vs look-alike sites

Search "kling ai free" and the results mix Kling's own site with domains that use the Kling name. In late October 2026 Bing's top results included kling-ai-free.com and kling-4.ai. Neither is kling.ai, so neither is Kling's official site. We aren't saying what those sites do with your money or data; we're saying they aren't Kling.

How to spot the real one:

  • Check the domain. Kling's official site is kling.ai. The older klingai.com address redirects there (we checked on 29 October 2026).
  • Be wary of "free unlimited Kling". Kling's own free plan has no monthly credits. A site promising unlimited free Kling 4.0 isn't describing Kling's plan.
  • Pay only where the account lives. Kling's Credits Policy says credits "can only be obtained and used by logged-in users within the KLlNG AI platform" (sic). Credits bought on another site aren't Kling credits, unless that site is a platform that licenses Kling and says so, like Higgsfield.

Weighing Google's model too? Is Veo 3 free covers Google Flow's 50 daily credits and why the Gemini app no longer uses Veo.

Came here from Sora? Is Sora 2 free explains why OpenAI's Sora is gone and which sites offering it aren't OpenAI.

Frequently asked

Is Kling AI free?
Partly. Kling's Basic plan is $0 and "free forever", but per Kling's own pages (checked 29 Oct 2026) it has no monthly credits, free exports carry a watermark, 1080p is premium-only and Basic output is not for commercial use. New users get free credits at sign-up, and Kling says returning users can claim a free allowance by logging in each month.
Does Kling AI give free daily credits?
Not as a fixed free-plan allowance. Kling's Credits Policy says that during events, Kling subscribers can claim daily credits on login, with amounts "subject to platform announcement". Free users get sign-up credits and a monthly login allowance, and Kling says those amounts may change.
How much does Kling AI cost?
Kling's credit guide (28 Jul 2026) lists Standard at $8.80 a month after a $6.99 first month for 660 credits, Pro at $32.56 for 3,000, Premier at $80.96 for 8,000 and Ultra at $159.99 for 26,000. Extra credits cost $1 per 66. Check kling.ai before you buy; prices change.
Can I use Kling 3.0 or Kling 4.0 for free?
Not guaranteed. On 29 Oct 2026 Kling's home page led with Kling 4.0 and still listed Kling 3.0, but Kling says model access varies by plan and doesn't publish which models the free plan can run, so check the model picker in your own account. Free credits from sign-up or the monthly login allowance are the only free way to try either. Whatever you generate on free carries a watermark and isn't licensed for commercial use.
Is kling-ai-free.com the official Kling site?
No. Kling's official site is kling.ai, and klingai.com redirects there. Domains like kling-ai-free.com and kling-4.ai aren't kling.ai, so they aren't Kling's official site. Sign up and pay only on kling.ai, or on a platform that openly licenses Kling models.

The short version: Kling is free to try on a watermarked, non-commercial Basic plan, and real use starts at Standard. If you're weighing Higgsfield's own free tier too, see is Higgsfield free.
