Best AI video generator app: the real iPhone and Android apps, and the copycats using their names

Runway's app is the pick for most models in one native app on both iPhone and Android; Pika's is iPhone-only. Which video makers really publish phone apps, what the apps run, why Higgsfield has none, and how to spot the fakes.

The best AI video generator app is Runway's, because it's the only official app we found on both the App Store and Google Play that lists several makers' models (Seedance 2.5, Kling 3 Pro and Runway's own Gen-4.5); iPhone owners also get Pika's official app, and Higgsfield, which has no app, works in a phone's browser instead (checked November 8, 2026). We confirmed each app from the maker's own website or from the developer name on its store listing, because app stores are full of look-alikes using these model names. Nothing here comes from installing the apps: we read the makers' pages and the listings, and say so where a feature is the listing's claim.

The rest of the field, apps or not, is ranked by job on our best AI video generator hub.

Runway: the most models in one native app

Runway's home page has a "Try app" button that goes to its App Store listing, and its links point to the same app on Google Play. The App Store listing, "Runway: AI Image & Video" by runwayml, describes it as "the AI image and video generator with every model you need in one app. Seedance 2.5, Kling 3 Pro, Gen-4.5, Nano Banana Pro, Nano Banana 2 and more", and says you can generate video from a text prompt or "Turn any photo into motion". The Google Play listing, published by Runway AI Inc, sums it up as "Seedance 2.5, Gen-4.5 & Runway Agent in one app" (both read Nov 8).

That model list is the reason it's the pick: on a phone, it's the one official app we found that runs a ByteDance model and a Kling model next to its maker's own. What it costs is set in Runway credits. Runway's pricing puts Standard at $15 a month ($12 billed yearly) for 625 credits, which it says equals 52 seconds of Gen-4.5; its API price list resells Kling 4.0 at 118 credits per 5 seconds at 1080p and Seedance 2.0 Pro at 160 per 4 seconds. We didn't check whether the app's in-app subscription prices match the website's, so check the price shown to you before paying. One gap: Runway's help center refused our automated reads, so Gen-4.5's clip length, resolution and vertical support aren't verified.

Pika: the official app is iPhone only

Pika answers the app question on its own download page: the official app is "Pika - AI Video", published on the App Store by Mellis, Inc., "the company behind pika.art". Asked whether the app has everything the website has, Pika says: "Yes. The creation apps and the models on pika.art are in the app, and new models arrive in both places." Sign in the same way you do on the web and your account comes with you.

  • No Android. "Pika - AI Video is only available for iPhone on the App Store, and we don't publish an Android app. A Pika video app on Google Play is not made by us."
  • Billing. Plans bought in the app are billed by Apple and managed in your Apple subscriptions; plans bought on pika.art are managed there.
  • Cost. On pika.art, Starter is $10 a month ($8 billed yearly) for 600 credits, and a 5-second Pika 2.5 clip at 720p is 20 credits; Pika also resells Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5 (read Nov 8). Pika 2.5 clips come back silent.

Kling, Hailuo and Grok: one maker's models, on your phone

These are official, but each runs its own maker's models only.

  • Kling AI. Kling's home page lists "Web, iOS, Android, macOS, Windows" in its structured data and shows iOS and Android download QR codes; the Google Play listing, by KLING AI, calls it "an image and video generation and editing studio powered by AI" (read Nov 8). Whether every kling.ai feature is in the app isn't stated. Kling's free and paid plans are in what Kling's free plan includes.
  • Hailuo. MiniMax's hailuoai.video links its App Store and Google Play apps; the Play listing, by MiniMax AI, reads "AI-powered image&video creator by MiniMax". Free credits are a one-time welcome pack (Hailuo's free trial).
  • Grok. xAI's Grok page links the Grok app on the App Store and Google Play, where the publisher is SpaceX Super Intelligence. Video isn't on Grok's Free or $8 Plus plans; it starts on Premium at $30 a month, and every clip carries a Grok watermark (Is Grok Imagine free).

A fourth listing, Dreamina AI: Image&Video Maker, is on Google Play from Bytedance Pte. Ltd., the company behind Dreamina; we didn't find it linked from Dreamina's own site, so we haven't confirmed its iPhone version or what it runs.

Google: video in the Gemini app, not Veo

If you have the Gemini app (published by Google on the App Store and Google Play), you have a video generator, with conditions. Google's video-generation page says "Gemini Omni will replace Veo in the Gemini app", that video there needs a Google AI plan, and that you must be 18 or older (read Nov 3); Google's developer docs say the Gemini app can "Create 10 second videos" (read Nov 8). Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month in the US. Veo 3.1 itself lives in Google Flow; we didn't confirm a Flow phone app, so treat Flow as a website. Is Veo 3 free covers every Google route.

Higgsfield: no app, by design

Higgsfield runs Kling, Seedance, Veo, Wan, MiniMax and Grok on one credit plan, but not in an app. Its help center is blunt:

Screenshot of Higgsfield's help center under the heading Is there a Higgsfield mobile or desktop app?, with the outlined answer: No. Higgsfield has no mobile apps and no desktop app: the platform works in your browser at higgsfield.ai on any device, including your phone.
Higgsfield's own answer, from its official-platforms help article (higgsfield.ai/creator-hub), read November 3, 2026. The answer is outlined. · Screenshot of higgsfield.ai by aliteq

On a phone that means opening higgsfield.ai in Safari or Chrome. You lose nothing by it: Higgsfield's Unlimited models and plan Free Generations work only on higgsfield.ai, which is exactly what the browser is (they don't work through its MCP connector or CLI). Billing goes through Higgsfield, not Apple or Google. Plus at $59 a month ($47 billed yearly) for 1,200 credits is the cheapest card listing every model. Our Higgsfield app guide shows the home-screen shortcut and where each Higgsfield surface works.

The copycats: apps that borrow the names

App stores reward whoever puts popular model names in their titles, and the makers know it. Three warnings from the makers themselves and from the stores:

  • Higgsfield: "Any downloadable app that presents itself as Higgsfield is a copy, no matter where it's listed or what it promises."
  • Pika: a Pika video app on Google Play "is not made by us"; Pika asks you to delete impostors, not enter payment details, and report them at pika.art/support.
  • Luma: a Google Play app called "Luma Dream Machine" is published by Infinity AI Solutions, not by Luma AI, the company behind the Dream Machine and Ray models. We didn't find an app link on lumalabs.ai.

A Google Play search on November 8 also returned apps from other developers with "seedance", "sora" and "pika" in their package names. Before you pay inside any app, check that the developer name matches the company, or open the app from a link on the maker's own website.

Sora: the app that closed

OpenAI's Sora app was the best-known phone video generator until OpenAI shut it down. Its help center says "The Sora web and app experiences were discontinued on April 26, 2026. The Sora API was discontinued on September 24, 2026." Any app or site still selling Sora video isn't OpenAI. Is Sora 2 free has the notice.

App or browser: which to use

  • You want several makers' models in a real app: Runway, on iPhone or Android.
  • You're on iPhone and want one app that mirrors its website: Pika.
  • You only use Kling or Hailuo: their own apps.
  • You want the widest model menu, Unlimited options and one bill: Higgsfield in the phone browser.
  • You already pay for Google AI: the Gemini app's 10-second Omni videos.

The best AI video generator for other jobs

Each page below answers one job from the same checked facts. All of them, grouped by job, are in our best AI video generator guide.

What we couldn't verify

  • Feature parity for Runway, Kling and Hailuo apps. We read their listings and websites, not the apps; only Pika states that its app has everything its website has.
  • In-app prices. App Store and Google Play subscription prices can differ from the makers' websites; we didn't compare them.
  • Dreamina's iPhone app and its model list, and whether a Google Flow phone app exists.
  • Runway Gen-4.5's clip length, resolution and vertical output (Runway's help center refused our reads).
  • Ratings, reliability or output quality of any app. We haven't installed or run them.

Verdict

Runway's app; Higgsfield in the browser

Runway's app is the best AI video generator app if you want several makers' models natively on iPhone or Android, with Seedance 2.5, Kling 3 Pro and Gen-4.5 named in its listing. iPhone users who like Pika get the full pika.art toolset in Pika's own app. If what you want is the widest model menu and Unlimited options, skip the app stores: Higgsfield has no app and runs fully in the phone's browser. Whatever you install, confirm the developer name first; the stores are full of copies.

Best for: People who want to make AI video from their phone and need to know which apps are real

Frequently asked

What is the best AI video generator app?
Runway's, for most people: it's the one official app we found on both the App Store and Google Play whose listing names several makers' models, Seedance 2.5, Kling 3 Pro and Runway's Gen-4.5. On iPhone, Pika's official app is the alternative (read Nov 8, 2026).
Is there a Higgsfield app?
No. Higgsfield's help center says it has no mobile apps and no desktop app and that any downloadable app presenting itself as Higgsfield is a copy. It works in the browser at higgsfield.ai on any phone.
Is there a Pika app for Android?
No. Pika says its app, Pika - AI Video by Mellis, Inc., is only on the iPhone App Store and that a Pika video app on Google Play is not made by Pika.
Does Kling AI have a mobile app?
Yes. Kling's own website lists iOS and Android and shows download QR codes, and its Google Play listing is published by KLING AI. Kling doesn't say whether every website feature is in the app.
Can I still use the Sora app?
No. OpenAI discontinued the Sora app and website on April 26, 2026 and the API on September 24, 2026.
How do I know an AI video app is official?
Open it from a link on the maker's own website, or check that the developer name on the store listing matches the company. A Google Play app named Luma Dream Machine, for example, is published by Infinity AI Solutions, not Luma AI.

The short version: real AI video apps exist, but fewer than the store results suggest. Runway and Pika carry the most models, the single-maker apps are fine for their own models, and Higgsfield is a website that works on any phone.
