Best AI video generator for YouTube Shorts: one 30-second take in 9:16, with sound, is a whole Short

Kling 4.0 on Higgsfield: it renders native 9:16 with stereo sound in takes up to 30 seconds, so one generation can be a whole Short. What each model's longest vertical take is, what a 30-second Short costs on each, and YouTube's AI label and music limits.

The best AI video generator for YouTube Shorts is Kling 4.0 on Higgsfield, because it renders native 9:16 video with stereo sound in a single take of up to 30 seconds, so one generation can be a whole Short, at a third of Seedance 2.5's price. In our own one-try test on November 7, 2026, a 5-second 9:16 Kling 4.0 clip came back at 720 by 1280 pixels with stereo audio for 11.25 credits. We checked every model's vertical options, take lengths and prices on the makers' and Higgsfield's pages between November 3 and November 8, 2026. Which AI video models make a whole Short in one take?

A Short built from one generation has no seams, no mismatched light between clips and no editing beyond trimming and captions. That only works if the model renders vertical natively and runs long enough. Here's each model's longest vertical take with sound, from the makers' pages and Higgsfield's catalogue (read through Higgsfield's own connector, nothing generated, Nov 8, 2026).

Three models do 9:16, sound and 30 seconds in one generation: Kling 4.0, Seedance 2.5 and Wan 3.0. Wan 3.0 is the cheapest of them (below), but it's the one we haven't run, and Alibaba's own docs describe its framing only as an "adaptive aspect ratio"; the 9:16 option comes from Higgsfield's catalogue. Kling 4.0 is the one whose vertical output we've seen with our own test, at a third of Seedance 2.5's price, and Kling's 4.0 guide adds keyframes (up to 10) and multi-shot on by default, so a 30-second take can contain cuts the model plans itself. Two things to know before you rely on it: it always generates sound (there's no switch), and the same guide says it may add subtitles and background music by default. If you want your own captions or a licensed track, say so in the prompt and check the result.

Our side-by-side test: five vertical frames from a Kling 4.0 clip, 11.25 credits, of a black mug with a readable BREW logo on an oak café counter with a hand sliding it in; below, five vertical frames from a Seedance 2.5 clip, 35 credits, of a mug with a barely readable logo by a window with hard sunlight
Our test, November 7, 2026: one prompt, one try each, text-to-video, 5 s, 720p, 9:16 on Higgsfield. Both came back as native vertical 720x1280 video with stereo sound. One try each is a spot check, not a quality ranking. · Aliteq test, made with Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5 on Higgsfield

What does one AI Short cost?

Higgsfield's Generate button shows the price of the exact take before you spend, and we read it for 5-second clips. The bars below scale those 5-second prices to a 30-second Short (our arithmetic; check the button for your exact length, since a longer take isn't guaranteed to cost exactly six times a 5-second one). Dollars use Higgsfield Plus at $59 for 1,200 credits, about $0.049 a credit.

One 30-second Short at 720p, by model (our arithmetic from Higgsfield prices, Nov 2026)

Grok Imagine 1.5 Lite (2 takes)about $1.48 (30 credits)

5 credits per 5 s (read Nov 8)

Veo 3.1 Lite (4 takes of 8 s)about $2.36 (48 credits)

12 credits per 8 s, sound off by default (read Nov 3)

Wan 3.0 (1 take)about $2.66 (54 credits)

9 credits per 5 s (read Nov 3)

Kling 3.0, sound on (2 takes)about $2.95 (60 credits)

10 credits per 5 s (read Nov 3)

MiniMax H3, 2K (2 takes)about $2.95 (60 credits)

10 credits per 5 s, a discount from 20 (read Nov 3)

Kling 4.0 (1 take)about $3.32 (67.5 credits)

11.25 credits per 5 s, discounted from 13.75 (read Nov 7)

Seedance 2.5 (1 take)about $10.33 (210 credits)

35 credits per 5 s (read Nov 7)

Kling 4.0 isn't the cheapest bar. Wan 3.0 makes a one-take Short with sound for about 54 credits, and is worth a test if price decides. Grok Imagine 1.5 Lite and Kling 3.0 cost less again but need two takes joined in an editor, and Veo 3.1 Lite needs four. If you're a developer, xAI's own API sells Grok Imagine 1.5 Lite at $0.03 a second at 720p, or $0.90 for 30 seconds (xAI price list, read Nov 8).

At a posting rhythm, the plan matters more than the clip. One 30-second Kling 4.0 Short a day is about 2,025 credits a month, which needs Ultra (3,000 credits for $129 a month, or $99 billed yearly); at Ultra's yearly rate a Short works out to about $2.23. Plus's 1,200 credits cover about 17 such Shorts a month, or a daily 15-second one. Starter ($19, 270 credits) doesn't name Kling 4.0 on its card; Plus is the cheapest plan that lists all models. Retries come on top: in our product-ad test, one in five Kling 3.0 tries and three in five Seedance 2.5 tries were usable for a strict brief.

When is another model the better pick for Shorts?

  • People talking to camera. Grok Imagine 1.5 and 1.5 Lite generate "native audio with lip-synced speech" per xAI's docs, and Lite costs 5 credits per 5 seconds on Higgsfield. For a scripted presenter, a lip-sync tool fits better: talking-avatar videos in Higgsfield prices a minute of it.
  • Realistic people and motion. Seedance 2.5 takes 30-second vertical takes with up to 30 reference images, 10 clips and 10 audio clips per ByteDance's model page. It costs about three times Kling 4.0, so keep it for the Shorts where people are the point. Kling vs Seedance has our one-prompt side-by-side.
  • Lots of cheap Shorts from one idea. Wan 3.0 also makes 30-second takes with sound, at 9 credits per 5 seconds on Higgsfield (Nov 3). Is Wan 3 free covers its own app.
  • Google's look. Veo 3.1 outputs 9:16 natively (Google Cloud docs), but its 8-second ceiling means joins. Google Flow sells it on Google AI plans; is Veo 3 free explains the credits.
  • An existing horizontal video. Higgsfield's help center points to its Reframe tool (Edit, then Reframe) to change the aspect ratio of a video you already have, instead of generating again.
  • Not Sora. OpenAI shut down Sora's app in April 2026 and its API in September 2026 (is Sora 2 free).

YouTube's rules for AI Shorts

  • Length. YouTube's help page says "You can now create YouTube Shorts up to three minutes in length". Square or vertical videos up to three minutes uploaded after October 15, 2024 count as Shorts. A 30-second AI take is well inside that, and a three-minute Short is six 30-second takes.
  • Disclosure. YouTube asks creators to disclose AI-generated or altered content that seems realistic, through the AI use setting when uploading. Clearly unrealistic content and animation don't need it. YouTube says disclosing "alone won't limit a video's audience or impact its eligibility to earn money", and creators who repeatedly skip it can face removal of content or suspension from the YouTube Partner Program. What YouTube's altered or synthetic content label means goes through it.
  • Music. "You can use most songs for up to 90 seconds in a 3 minute Short", and some tracks are limited to 60 or 30 seconds. YouTube also blocks any Short over one minute with an active copyright claim until the claim is resolved, so a long AI Short with a claimed song can't play at all.
  • Monetisation. YouTube's inauthentic-content policy covers Shorts channels too: mass-produced, templated AI content isn't monetisable. Our faceless YouTube guide covers what YouTube does accept.

What we couldn't verify

  • Whether a 30-second take costs exactly six 5-second ones. We read 5-second prices on Higgsfield's Generate button; the 30-second figures are our arithmetic.
  • Quality across models. We made one 9:16 clip each on Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5 (Nov 7). Every other model here we haven't run, so the pick rests on specs and price.
  • Hailuo 2.3's aspect ratios and sound. Neither MiniMax's pages nor Higgsfield's catalogue state them.
  • How the AI label appears on a Short. YouTube's help page describes the label on the video player and in the description but doesn't say how it shows on Shorts.
  • Whether Kling 4.0's default background music could draw a copyright claim. Kling doesn't say where its generated music comes from, and we found nothing on YouTube's pages about AI-generated tracks.
  • How long Higgsfield's discounts last. Kling 4.0's 11.25 credits and MiniMax H3's 10 are below their listed prices, with no end date published.
4/ 10

Verdict

Kling 4.0, one take per Short

Kling 4.0 is the AI video generator to start with for YouTube Shorts: native 9:16, stereo sound, and a 30-second take that can be the whole Short, for about 67.5 credits at 720p. Wan 3.0 is a slightly cheaper one-take option we haven't tested, Grok Imagine 1.5 Lite is cheaper still if you'll join two 15-second takes, and Seedance 2.5 is the step up for realistic people at about three times the price, and a daily 30-second Short needs Higgsfield's Ultra plan.

Best for: Creators who post AI-made YouTube Shorts and want each one in a single vertical generation

AI video for YouTube Shorts: common questions

What is the best AI video generator for YouTube Shorts?
Kling 4.0 on Higgsfield, checked Nov 8, 2026. It renders native 9:16 with stereo sound in takes of up to 30 seconds, so one generation can be a whole Short. A 5-second 9:16 clip cost 11.25 credits at 720p on Nov 7, about 67.5 for 30 seconds by our arithmetic.
How long can a YouTube Short be?
Up to three minutes. YouTube's help page says square or vertical videos up to three minutes uploaded after October 15, 2024 are categorised as Shorts.
Do I have to label AI-generated Shorts?
When they look realistic, yes. YouTube asks creators to disclose AI-generated or altered content that seems realistic; clearly unrealistic content and animation don't need it. YouTube says disclosure alone won't limit a video's audience or its eligibility to earn money.
Which AI video generators make vertical 9:16 video?
Kling 4.0, Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.5, Wan 3.0, MiniMax H3, Grok Imagine 1.5 and Google Veo 3.1 all offer 9:16, per their makers' pages or Higgsfield's catalogue (Nov 8, 2026). We couldn't confirm 9:16 for Hailuo 2.3.
Can I put music on an AI Short?
YouTube says most songs can be used for up to 90 seconds in a three-minute Short, some only for 60 or 30 seconds, and a Short over one minute with an active copyright claim is blocked until it's resolved. Kling 4.0 may also add its own background music by default.
What's the cheapest way to make AI Shorts?
Grok Imagine 1.5 Lite: 5 credits per 5 seconds on Higgsfield, or $0.03 a second at 720p on xAI's API. It tops out at 15 seconds a take, so a 30-second Short is two takes joined in an editor.

The short version: pick a model that renders 9:16 with sound and runs long enough to make the whole Short in one take. Today that's Kling 4.0; if budget matters more than seams, Grok Imagine 1.5 Lite.
